Pay a visit to a new resident on Racecourse Road and you’ll find those four big neon words perched outside one fantastic new Italian establishment. Brisbane meet Prego Pizzeria! Hamilton’s new star pizza haven. It doesn’t matter if you know zero Italian outside the three basics (ciao, grazie and spaghetti), in Italy the word Prego is the buzzword for good news. Example. You’re in a restaurant. A rowdy Prego! means this delicious three cheese gnocchi is YOURS! In a gelateria? It means one pistachio gelato coming right up! So what does it mean in Brisbane?
It means chef Stefano Bagnoli (who has been making pizza’s since he was 20 years old) preparing you and your tribe delicious traditional Roman fare. It means square cut Rosse and Bianche pizzas made from stone baked ovens imported from the motherland. It means ciao-ing down on smoky saffron arancini balls and dining in a subway tiled interior. It means you can totally live our your Eat, Pray, Love dreams with your nearest and dearest over Prego’s Platters. Just $40, for a variety of mixed salads, sliced pizzas, delicious antipasti expertly paired with Italian wine. It also means takeaway – eat all of these delights on the run!
Sound great? Well, that’s because this one has been cooked up by none other than the greats. Dimity Holland and Simon Barakat. You’ll know the Barakat family because of Gino’s and Bowen Hills to die for cheese wheel fave, Il Verde. With that portfolio, we’re pinning Prego’s as our new favourite pizza haunt.
Less talking, more eating. Chuck it on the list. We’ll see you there!
