Wrap Up: Paspaley Polo in the City


The highly anticipated Paspaley Polo in the City returned to Doomben Racecourse, on Saturday 12 November bringing the sport of polo to the people of Brisbane.

National team sponsor Veuve Clicquot welcome international Argentinean polo player Baron Jakob Von Plessen who lead the field in the Pro-Am Challenge against Macquarie Bank. Jakob was later joined by Paspaley’s lead player and international polo star Ruki Baillieu who dominated the field in the Paspaley Cup.

As the temperature soared glamorous guests in the VIP Paspaley Garden Party marquee sipped on Veuve Clicquot and enjoyed an array of delicious canapés along with an exclusive sit-down lunch prepared by Philip Johnson of E’cco Bistro.

Among guests were Australian fashion designers Lydia Pearson & Pamela Easton along with former Rugby Union player Tim Horan. After lunch VIP guests were treated to a pony tour with Australian Polo Captain Glen Gilmore who shared his insider tips and introduced his top 4 polo ponies.

Brisbane kicked off the first round in the Paspaley Polo in the City series for 2011 which is now in its sixth consecutive year. First held in Sydney’s Centennial Park in 2006,Paspaley Polo in the City has grown into a major national sporting series now played in five capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
