30 Things to do in Brisbane

Whether you’re a local born and bred, a visitor turned resident or tourist stopping by, Brisbane is a pretty cool place to be, but you have to know where to go and what to do to make the most of the river city. So, to help you on your exploring way, here are 30 things to do in Brisbane that are fun, won’t cost you a fortune and, you can do them solo or with your squad in tow. Let’s get to it:

  1. Go underground to get your morning coffee at Brew in Burnett Lane, a car park -turned-café
  2. Explore the city from a different view and kayak along the windy Brisbane River
  3. Attend many of the free comedy shows at the Powerhouse each weekend
  4. Get some American style food without leaving the country at California Native in Coorparoo
  5. Continue your ‘American trip’ with a visit to The Bowery Bar, a 1920s, New York style bar in Fortitude Valley, or check out our directory of American food in Brisbane here and go on a feasting tour
  6. Wake up early and hike up Mt Coot-tha to the lookout for some splendid views of the city, and then finish with breakfast at The Summit
  7. Cuddle up to a Koala at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
  8. Go for a dip at the famous Streets Beach in South Bank
  9. Speaking of South Bank, the area is full of places to dine or get some after work drinks!
  10. Love beer? Book yourself a tour of the XXXX Brewery
  11. If you love to shop, Elizabeth St and Queen St in the city are the places to go, with high end stores such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Hermes, international retailers TopShop and Forever 21 and a large collection of national favourites

  13. Hop on the ferry to either Stradbroke Island or Moreton Island for a day trip. Make sure you do your research in advance to see whether you need a car to get around
  14. Try some native Aussie food at Tukka in West End – crocodile, possum and emu feature on the menu!

  18. Sample some of Brisbane’s history by visiting the Spring Hill Baths, featuring classic changing rooms, grandstand seating and a 25 metre indoor heated pool
  19. Dress to impress and head to Bacchus Restaurant in South Bank, or its sister bar, Soleil Pool Bar
