This week for Spotlight on we caught up with Chelsea Constable and Rachel Treasure from Top & Tail Designs who have joined forces to create the ultimate fitness accessory that is essential, and super cute too!
Established in 2015, Top & Tail Designs launched with their product – a range of fast to absorb, quick to dry and vibrantly coloured microfiber fitness towels, that are perfect for your workout, and everything else in between.
So, how did their partnership come about, and what makes Top & Tail special?
Brisbane Threads: How did the two of you meet?
Top & Tail: We went to the same Kindergarten back in 1998!
BT: Tell us about Top & Tail Designs.
TT: Top & Tail Designs has creatively developed the ultimate fitness accessory that is essential for all kinds of workouts and also everyday use. Established in November 2015, Top & Tail have a range of fast to absorb, quick to dry and vibrantly coloured microfiber fitness towels. The towels are convenient, don’t obtain odours (sweat), and are the perfect size.
BT: How did you come up with the idea for the product?
TT: We realised a gap in the market after a morning boxing class, as going from boxing to work was very inconvenient with an old bath towel taking up so much room in our bags!
BT: What’s it like working in a startup in Brisbane?
TT: The Brisbane Startup Community is a very exciting place to be involved in and we thoroughly enjoy working in a startup. Although there are always challenges, being involved in a startup has taught us a great deal and allowed us to meet some awesome people. We are currently working out of Little Tokyo Two which has really expanded our minds to the startup world and inspired us to pursue our passion.BT: What has been the most exciting part of your startup journey?
TT: The most exciting part of our journey so far has been hearing positive feedback about the towels and having people purchase and use the towels consistently, and love them!
BT: What’s next on the horizon for Top & Tail?
TT: Top & Tail plan to introduce a new range of towels in time for spring! There will be some monochrome ones, but we also have some funky designs up our sleeves, and are very excited to release them. Watch this space!
BT: Where is your fave place in Brisbane to eat, drink and shop?
TT: We love the James St precinct; especially Sixes and Sevens for a cheeky Stone&Wood, but our favourite coffee and meeting place is Bellissimo Coffee Roasters in Bulimba.
