Seamless: An evening of sustainable fashion

seamless banner

Seamless is an independently organised event aiming to showcase emerging and sustainable fashion practices.   The first of many evenings, on March the second six designers will showcase their works and talk about their creations. From customised eyewear and luxurious underwear ranges to  innovative female fashion styles, this evening provides a chance to learn, question and feel the impact of such methods. In an open-plan market like set up the evening offers entertainment for anyone interested in not only fashion but design, environmentally friendly methods and challenges in developing a small business.

We talk to Sarah Brischetto about the inspiration behind the event and her involvement:

“I love fashion, but I am also very conscious about purchasing pieces that have limited impact on the planet.  We are very lucky to have such talented designers in Brisbane who are doing amazing things using eco-friendly fabrics, materials and practices. The reason I got involved with seamless is because wanted to provide Brisbane with the opportunity to see these amazing creations and to show our local community that there are eco-conscious designers who are designing fashionable and trendy pieces.  I am also excited about the event being Brisbane’s newest dedicated forum to sustainable fashion.” Sarah

We can’t wait to be a part of the sustainable revolution!

Recycling has seen Holloway rip down various sentimental materials such as grand pianos, musical instruments, skateboards, vintage car parts and even ancient antiques. Inviting customers to personalise their frames by selecting from a myriad of recycled timbers, or bringing in worldly possessions for refinement. “We’re no better than malicious vandals unless what we create is respectful for the end user and the rest of the world.” Holloway

Baumbach creates unique and initiative jersey wear collections, each married with quirky hand drawn graphics that are designed and hand printed with love in Brisbane.

Baumbach designs for the girl who is isn’t afraid to dream and walks to the beat of her own drum, inspired by poetry, illustration and all things beautiful.

The Baumbach girl is a wonderer, she loves waking up and drinking tea out of a jam jar. She is always daydreaming, loves being creative, listens to old vinyl’s at home after work. She potters through markets and thrift shops at the weekend, loves to buy clothes that tell a story, hold a memory, last past seasonal trends. She loves to disappear into an adventure, rides a bike to work instead of taking the bus. She is curious and open minded, loves her friends and has a kind of inner beauty that you will never find on a front cover of a fashion magazine.
