Australia’s most respected fashion house, Scanlan & Theodore hosted a celebration of their Autumn Winter 2012 collection at the boutique on James Street on Wednesday 18 April. And Brisbane Threads was their to capture the event.
The collection, which is recognised for affording a striking sense of modernity, features a full ready-to-wear collection with veering form, comprising luxury basics to elegant evening wear. Key colours include green and blue, earthy tones of taupe and slate and classic black and navy.
Flocking, sequins, feathers, silk, cashmere and laser cut fabrics highlight texture while creating a sense of contemporary eclecticism. Modern evening wear pieces feature fabrics which are draped and ruched to flatter the silhouette, as seen in the simple wool-blend dress, the liquid black fourties-esque cocktail dress and the floor- length red-carpet worthy gown.
Cropped classic pants, skirts and tops are realized in structured shapes, cut in a wool blend and leather, work well when worth together or as separates, pared with more feminine shift tops and chiffon skirting that features appliqué and prints.
Animal prints feature subtly in the collection for a tougher look, along with printed snakeskin, leopard and feather graphics for softer styles and more structured shapes. Fur and feather outerwear and accessories including fur-like clutches, belts and evening bags also come into play for the season.
Editors, bloggers, designers and the who’s who of Brisbane fashion gathered to appreciate the collection and a glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne! The evening was fabulous and our shopping list has grown again!
