Brisbane foodies, prepare yourself for some serious dumpling consumption this weekend – Lunar New Year is coming to King Street! Come this Friday and Saturday and watch as your new favourite foodie precinct transforms into a street plucked from Beijing itself, right in the heart of Bowen Hills. On both nights, traditional lion dancers will begin their parade at 6:30 PM as drums pierce lantern decorated streets to usher in the Year of the Dog. There are two Asian delights to save room in your belly for. Get out your sched, here are the deets!

Five words. ALL YOU CAN EAT DUMPLINGS. If that’s not all the motivation you need to book in for a night at The Fat Dumpling, consider their set Lunar New Year menu. For $65pp, it’s jam-packed with shared stir-fried greens, spring rolls, braised pork belly, salt and pepper squid. And for dessert, fresh mango cake. YUM. It’s a shared banquet, fit for an emperor (or two) and for two nights only.
Just a skip and a hop from there is Banoi. A King Street resident offering epic Vietnamese eats for Lunar New Year. Their menu is equally delicious, offering a three-course banquet for $30pp. First, get your crispy spring roll fix, then select your own main with rice, vermicelli and pho dishes – excuse the pun – all on the table. Top it off with a glass of wine and a Vietnamese flan, and you’ll be leaving one very happy (extremely full) human.
