Are you ready for Bris Fest?

Get ready Brisbane, the Brisbane Festival has revealed their epic line-up and we cannot wait!

The three-week city long celebration will be run from the 9th September until the 30th September and we don’t think you’ll be wanting to miss this one. Jam packed with productions from the arts, theatre and various musicians this is the Brisbane Festival not to be missed.

The highlights are the big music draw cards; London Grammar and Angus & Julia Stone, making their legendary appearances during the festival which are both absolute musts on our hit list’s this year. London Grammar is performing at the Riverstage on the 23 September and Angus & Julia are performing on the 21st at The Tovili. These two shows are going to make for two very killer nights….. THANKYOUUUU BRISBANE FESTIVAL!

Let’s talk about The Tivoli

One of Brisbane’s greatest venues for live music, has a huge schedule over the 3 week #BrisFest.  Starting with Young Hearts Run Free’, a night of stellar performances of the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack (you know the 1997 Baz Lurhmann classic starring Leonardo). In celebration of its 20 year anniversary, seriously that soundtrack was #EPIC;  ending with a DJ set followed by a late night after party with performances by Electric Fields. Backing up is a musical production of Orpheus from the 12-16 of September, which is a perfect fit for both the vibe of the theatre and musics and it gives you the chance to be transported through music to 1930’s Paris. Who doesn’t love Paris in the 30’s?  Other performances at the Tivoli include: Regurgitator performing The Velvet Underground & Nico in celebration of the 50-year anniversary #OOOOOOHHHHMAGOD!, Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin play Suspiria, The Aints playing The Saints, and a lastly Sultan Of The Disco doing what they do best. I don’t know about you but you will definitely see us A LOT at The Tivoli throughout the festival…. Just saying!

This year the festivals jam-packed line-up and schedule includes a variety of performances from a range of genres that will be hard to choose between as we want to see everything! Ones we will be hitting are Limbo Unhinged a circus/cabaret show, CHEF which is going to be every theatre loving foodies dream, Megan Washington’s performance at QPAC with Queensland symphony orchestra, I Just Came To Say Goodbye a theatre performance at Theatre Republic, and finally the comedy show by Dem Lardner called ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.

How could we forget the annual city stopping spectacle that is Riverfire, which will be closing the festival on the 30th September. Riverfire is the most anticipated firework show that not only stops an entire city but gets even better and better AND better every year.

So all in all this year Brisbane Festival has quite possibly outdone themselves and will definitely be a hard line-up to beat for the years to come. Brace yourselves for an amazing three weeks Brisbane because me and the rest of the Brisbane Threads team will be experiencing and enjoying everything along with you. WE CANT WAIT!
