Barefoot bowls are creeping their way onto the Brisbane social scene and you need to know about it. Where the atmosphere is relaxed, the dress code is casual and the drinks are always cold, it can no longer be said that bowls is a sport for the elderly. Here are our favourite venues for the best lawn bowls in Brisbane for you and your crew this weekend.
Arthurs Green– Red Hill
If you like your breakfast with a side of bowls then this is the place for you. Since 2014 Arthurs Green has been serving up delicious café fare on the green of the Red Hill Bowls Club. Head down for Sunday Brunch and enjoy the show, or ditch the shoes and throw some balls yourself.
The Boo– Newstead
Where the dress code is as relaxed as the atmosphere, The Boo is Queensland’s only ‘social bowling’ club. The BBQ & Bowls package is perfect for families and large groups of friends looking for a new way to spend their weekend together. The package includes 2 hours of bowls and catering, so it’s perfect for a family affair or a work social function.
Merthyr Bowls Club– New Farm
Located on the iconic Brisbane river this bowls club boasts a relaxed vibe, river breezes, ice-cold brews and tasty BBQ feats. However, while the restaurant facilities will still operate under normal trading hours the greens will be undergoing maintenance until March 25th.
Norman Park Bowls – Norman Park
Located just off the CBD, the Norman Park Bowls club is ideal for your next office event. With live music on Sundays, Harrys Trivia on Wednesdays and Thursdays and barefoot bowls offered from Wednesday to Saturday, there really is an event for everyone.
Ferny Grove Bowls – Ferny Grove
If you are looking for an affordable and relaxed way to celebrate, look no further than the Ferny Grove Bowls club. At just $5 per person or $200 to hire the entire green, Ferny Grove will ensure you and your guests have an unforgettable time.
Toowoong Bowls Club – Toowong
Much more than just a bowls club, this venue has a host of events to write in the diary. If you’re feeling like a Sunday Sesh is in order, live music with a side of barefoot bowls is at your service. Take a look at the line-up for the next few weeks on their website. We definitely have our eye on Taco night!
Club Greenslopes – Greenslopes
This is definitely a venue worth traveling for. For just $18 per person, you can enjoy a delicious summer BBQ and three hours of barefoot bowling on the green with your best pals. What more could you ask for!
