7 Perfect Italian-style Pizza Restaurants in Brisbane

I grew up on pizza hut. Oil dripping, topping full Friday nights spent in front of a video (am I showing my age?!). Then one Italian-born boyfriend and a trip to Italy for a beautiful friend showed me what I was missing out on! You haven’t really eaten pizza until you’ve tried the thin crust, minimal-topping, bocconcini-goodness that is an Italian Style Pizza. I have personally eaten at every one of the below restaurants (for research purposes, people!) and recommend them all!

1. Beccofino – Teneriffe – Google Map
A Brisbane institution, Beccofino is my go-to. Delicious every time, fantastic friendly staff and affordable. My tip is the Salami pizza!

2. Tinderbox – Fortitude Valley – Google Map
A new-comer and here to stay. Tinderbox owned by and located behind Harvey’s on James Street. Try the San Danielle… a pizza by my own name!

3. Sorellina Pizzeria – Woolloongabba – Google Map

A new addition to the Woolloongabba precinct, Sorellina features notorious pizza-loving ninja turtle on their back wall. And let me tell you those heroes-in-a-half-shell would dine there every night!

4. Popolo – South Bank – Google Map

Popolo takes me back to my trip to Italy… The word itself means ‘people’ and it is the perfect place to bring together friends and family and enjoy an Italian feast!

5. Gusto da Gianni – Portside, Hamilton – Google Map

My tip, book an early dinner, watching the sun set over the river while enjoying a prosecco with friends is just the ultimate!

6. Alfredo’s Pizzeria – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

The uber-cool Alfredo’s is tucked right in behind Alfred & Constance and perfect for a late night slice after a night out!

7. Gallery One – Westfield Carindale – Google Map

Pizza in the ‘burbs! I am always shocked that a restaurant in a shopping centre could be so good! Gallery One prides themselves on great quality food at affordable prices. It’s a breathe of fresh air when you are trying to find a nice meal after a day of shopping!

  1. Pizza at 1889 barracks rates as my best. We nearly always have the Zucca, pumpkin, Gorgonzola and pine nuts. Thin crispy crust.

  2. Pizza emporium in Stafford is amazing. We were lucky enough to eat regularly at Beccafino whilst living in Teneriffe but after a “Family” move to the burbs we are still blessed with great pizza.
